Here is the template I use when writing my resume. This type of resume has worked for me time and time again, and I am sure it will work for you too! Don't forget a cover letter. I will also write a how-to for cover letters as well. Check out my other articles often, to find out if it's posted yet. Try to use an 11 or 12 font for your resume. Keep everything spaced out. Don't use a hard to read font, and don't use bolding or italics everywhere. Use only where you feel is needed.
Name (The name in which you want to get paid under)
Address (where you currently live)
Phone Number (where you can be reached for interviews)
E-mail (try not to use any e-mail that has an unprofessional sound to it eg; email@example.com)
State the position you are looking for here. Bold it if you like. Be specific. The more specific you are the more likely you will be to find a position you actually want.
Make a bullet point list of about 10 important skills/qualifications that you have, that you would like employers to know right away.
List around 3 of your past employers. List the name of the company and your position as well as the dates from which you were employed by them. Try not to list too many positions, only what is related to the job for which you are applying.
List your secondary and your post-secondary education here. Include the name of the institution, your main courses taken, and when you attended. Also list any special achievements and whether or not your obtained a diploma or certification.
Don't list your references on your resume. Always state that references are available upon request, and make sure you let your references know before giving their name, so they are aware that someone will be contacting them.
Don't put any other personal information on your resume, like you S.I.N. or your birth date. If you are hired there will be time for you to give that information. It is also not a good idea to put any false information and most places will check to see if what you have submitted is accurate.
